First Bite is a short film that explores attraction and abjection within a sapphic relationship through the supernatural lens of Vampirism.
'Inspired by the themes of my dissertation 'Fangs and Feminine Longing: why are queer women obsessed with Vampire related media?' Deciding to carry on with this theme and concept into a different story, aesthetic and set of characters. My visual and character inspirations were mainly Helter Skelter (2012) and Kamikaze Girls (2004). Wanting to blend these more Western gothic aesthetics with those of the early 2000s in Japan and Korea. Using costume to explore the characters identity as well as relationship to one another. The subtle and not no subtle ways which culture and aesthetics can impact a Sapphic relationship.' - Sofia Westergren, Art Director and Cosume Designer and Editor.
